The albums that soundtracked this glorious Friday...
Johnny Winter - And Live
...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead - ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead
Pink Floyd - Animals
John Lennon - Anthology Box Set
Continuing on from yesterday, this Johnny Winter album is a live album featuring his short-lived band And. It's much better than the studio album, with some blistering cuts (especially Mean Town Blues and It's My Own Fault). The debut album by Trail of Dead has their trademark perfect mix of melody and noise, and while it's not their best album, it is still damn good. Pink Floyd's Animals is probably my favorite album of theirs...it's a harrowing, scathing, intense, and emotionally charged social comment on late-1970s Britain as told via Orwell's "Animal Farm." The Lennon Anthology is a multi-disc box set chock full of outtakes, demos, and alternate versions that are wonderful, and in many ways better than the released versions (Imagine, How Do You Sleep, the Cheap Trick-assisted I'm Losing You, Nobody Told Me, etc). It contains a lot of music, too, nearly 100 songs, so it kept me busy for a good long while, not that I'm complaining!
